GAS - The Image of the Forest / a short documentary
They’re not groundbreaking but Bruford’s first 2 albums, Feels Good To Me and One Of A Kind, are incredible and underrated fusion albums. The band was led by Yes and King Crimson’s former drummer, Bill Bruford
What got me into industrial was Rammstein, somehow.
Dad had fragile before he became a sourpuss
The song wriggle like an Eel is about the murder involving Micheal Barrymore !!!!
RAMLEH is one of my favourite bands ! Been collecting there albums for years ! Still slogging away at there discography but there stuff is sometimes expensive! So i can only get stuff now and again ! I know there not traditional power electronics but check out skullflower!!!!
Mine are: Ants from up There Deathconsciousness To Be Kind A Lonely Sinner Lift Your Skinny Fists like Antennas to Heaven
Fantano only gave it a 7 LOL, which was quite harsh. No Fiona album is objectively less than an 8, as a general consensus.. FTBC is a mixed bag for me, and im pretty much a fiona apple nerd. 2012s the Idler Wheel needs more critical acclaim. That and when the pawn are her near perfect 9/10 albums. FTBC is quirky, unique, raw, experimental, percussive, life affirming, female empowering. It adresses many heavy issues such as depression in heavy balloon, or empaphizing with a fellow sexual assault victim in newspaper. Yet at the same time, its is positive and upbeat. its brilliance lies in the different subject matter of each song. The opener Somebody to Love is a classic Fiona piano ballad, with a purposely raw uneven vocal, it is a upbeat track about finding love. Who remembers a non descript fellow school mate telling them they have potential on Shameika? awonderfully quirky reflection on childhood, or the rhtymic chanting on Relay, admitting her resentment for others deemed to have had an easier life. Then you have the simple, yet complexly melodic Under the Table. It's a brilliantly nuanced , intricate album that grows with every listen. a solid 8.5/9 though, it is not perfect.
Three of a perfect pair is a masterpiece. Finishes off the 80’s era perfectly.
Fripp should be commended for his anti streaming stance
your analysis of before & after science is poor. it's a concept album. by this river and spider and i are tracks that have basically no precedent in his oeuvre up to that point.
Man I miss his music recommendations so much
Download from Canada is a great IDM project
Thanks So much for getting me into Swirlies!!
Where is bro
My only gripe about this video isn’t about the selection…but when you said “…Propellerheads did nothing after…” They went on to contribute in a HUGE way with their software! ReBirth, ReCycle and Reason were all ground breaking and landmarks in production software for producers!
Good video! My band opened for Fugazi in 1999 because they wanted to support rock bands with female members. Our town was particularly conservative and this was very kind especially because it was only our second show. They were so nice and respectful to us and paid us $100 which was a ton of money for a band that was usually paid in beer. They even wrote us a post card a couple months later to thank us for playing with them. Oh yeah, and of course their set was insanely good. Fugazi is the real deal through and through. ps. "Better to burn out than to fade away" is from a song by Neil Young, Into the Black
Merci for Accolades- Hugs from Devoted Cohen-head.
Great video
It’s fair to skip NIN, I love them but it’s more polished than true industrial
I’ve tried to like Bitches Brew, but ever time I listen to it I just get bored. For me there’s something anemic about the recording.
Thank you Robert Fripp for changing yiout mind!
What do you think of 'low roar'?
Fall of Troy doppelgängers is a masterpiece
what a video. "A heat in a jar" man you really enjoy using words!
I would definitely pick VIVIsectVI for Skinny Puppy over Too Dark Park. TDP sounds almost pop these days and Last Rites has that abysmal second half. Imo Killing Joke is the greatest band and while they kind of skirted the line, they did own the industrial scene with albums like Pandemonium and Pylon.
when i was a kid, between ages of 10 to 14 i was obsessed with Blink 182, i used to research the bands the influenced them Fugazi was one of them, i ended up downloading The Kill (off Argument) and Do u like me (off red medicine). Even at that young age something about both songs, the vibey airyness of the kill and the friggin noise intro alone on do u like me reeled me in. Years later i finally really got into the rest of the Argument, then rest of Red Medicine then songs like Shut the door and the turnover, public witness, sweet n low etc etc, rest is history, one of my favorite bands of all time, and i listen to everything and try to play everything on guitar, many many years past what blink 182 did for me lol, never forget what started the fire inside u tho!
deep believer
So has anyone heard anything about this channel and if there will be anything new or is this it? It’d be nice if he’d at least put up some kind of update or comment that it’s done.

Tri Repetae came out at the perfect time in my life- end of high school, heard it on college radio, seminal, emotional..I could go on.
King Crimson had a knack of hooking me with each album's opening track. Lizard included one of my fave KC cuts, Circus. It takes me on a wild ride each time I listen to it. Islands opened with the fantastic Formentera Lady. Side B is a classic Crimson conic contrast leading off with Ladies of the Road and closing with the magnificently beautiful title cut. I agree with you 💯. Lark's Tongue in Aspic is a masterpiece and my favorite Crimson elpee. I was fortunate to see Crimson 5 times with this lineup including an amazing outdoor performance in New York's Central Park. Muir was amazing live; he was a man in constant motion always tinkering with some sound ditty. Lark's Tongue in Aspic Part 2 is my all-time favorite Crimson cuts. David Cross contributed some outstanding violin! And John Wetton's voice is perfect. Once Adrian Belew joined the band, I lost interest. I did not enjoy Belew's work with the Talking Heads either. The first seven albums are amazing. The latter ones...meh...
Soundtracks for the blind!
First Light - Freddie Hubbard ❤💫
Great video Martha is an amazing track on closing time. I have listened to Tom here and there throughout the years. Someone gave me Blue Valentine about a decade ago. Loved that record and was slightly familiar with others. A few months ago, it was pouring rain while I was about to start work. I put on Rain Dogs. Ever since I've been on a binge. Awesome recaps on the records.
Enigmatic, Ollie
Rest in peace Steve Albini, you were a legend.
Good afternoon, everyone. Thanks to the author for his attention to such an intellectual genre. Well for you, my friend, who is interested in trip-hop, I highly recommend you to immerse yourself in merging with the following sounds: Tricky (+ Marta separately, + Francesca Belmonte separately), Massive Attack, Portishead (and also Beth Gibbons separately, she has a new release in 2024), Dj Krush, Dj Shadow, Morcheeba, Sneaker Pimps, UNKLE, Thievery Corporation, Lamb, Neneh Cherry (old), Hooverphonic, Björk (Post album from 1995, also recorded by Tricky), Smoke City. Also, Trentemøller (Fixion album), it's different but the influence is definitely there. David Lynch (as a musician) also flirted with aesthetics more than once, but it's already thin ice there. Have a nice listen.
im 19 and just recently discovered leonard. i love watching videos like this about artists i admire. this was just what i was looking for to get to know him and his art better. thank you so much for this❤️
i’m a big fan of this autobiography called. Love is a mixtape because the author worked for Rolling Stone and uses lots of music references throughout the novel.
Come back man😢I’m only on my music nerd era like 8 months ago and your videos has helped me to discover all these different records and artists!
There first couple albums sound like a slightly more prog Pink Floyd but then they found their sound after that
I have Amon Duul 2 WOLF CITY which is wonderful. First heard it at a friend's house around 50 year's ago and still enjoy listening to it now and again. Possably easier to "get in to" than what this guy's recomending.
The trilogy of albums- Swordfishtrombones, Rain Dogs and Frank's Wild Years-are just amazing. I love all of his albums, but those three are my favourite.
Fugazi is probably my second favorite band, but I’d like to posit Parliament-Funkadelic as the greatest band of all time. 1. While not as politically flawless as Fugazi, they were a voice of African American liberation and afrofuturism. 2. To this day they put on some of the most wild, party like live shows ever. 3. Musicality. The best guitar band by miles, along with just an increasingly talented group of instrumentalists that was able to be as heavy as bands like Black Sabbath, and also always maintain the cool funky sound. 4. While their discog isn’t as perfect, they still have an incredibly long run of stellar albums, that see them experimenting in some way with every song. And I’d argue that because of the time in which they began they had more pressure to put out albums, so a little more fluff had to creep in. But, every song never feels half baked or in experimental or funky.
"Since I left you" is one of those albums that I end up going back to because it just has such a wide array of emotions going on in it. "Feed the Animals" is an album you DRIVE to. Its full of energy. Its for when you have to wake up when you're power walking to work. Gets me pumped up.
Sean has a big dick energy.
So strident, but in a good way, Passionate as well
You convinced me, but I was already convinced.
